Faroe Islands wedding photography, place by place
These are weddings and elopements I've photographed in the Faroe Islands, grouped by where they happened. Some were shot in soft summer light, some in wind and drizzle, and you'll see both, because that's what the islands are like.
Gjógv
The gorge, the stone harbor and the steep green slopes above the village make Gjógv one of my favorite places to slow down and just walk together.
About Gjógv as a locationSaksun
Saksun feels like the end of the road in the best way: a turf-roof church, a tidal lagoon and a valley that changes completely when the cloud drops.
About Saksun as a locationFossá
Fossá is a tall waterfall you can stand right beneath, with spray in the air and rock underfoot. It is a place to slow down and hold on to each other.
About Fossá as a locationFunningur
The small black church in Funningur sits right by the fjord, and it's one of the quietest places I know for a ceremony or a few calm portraits afterward.
About Funningur as a locationIn their words
“We took pictures in several different locations, for example, in Saksun, Tjornuvik, beside Eidisvatn, Gjogv, and Fossa. Each place is beautiful in its own way, and some locations added a raw touch to the pictures, which is a nice contrast. The pictures turned out beautifully, and we are very happy.”
Tjørnuvík
Tjørnuvík is a dark beach at the end of a narrow valley, with sea stacks on the horizon and wind that rarely lets your hair sit still.
About Tjørnuvík as a locationAcross the islands
Cliffs, beaches, roadsides and open hillsides: some of my favorite frames happened between the planned stops, when we pulled over because the light changed.
